My Additions to Murphy's Laws

Recently I was just having this discussion with my friends about Murphy's Laws when we realized there are so many such small incidents we often come across in our lives - which if taken from Murphy's point of view - would make life much more interesting :) So here goes my localized version of Murphy's Laws:

1. Law of Opportunity: Your boss will allot you maximum work on the day you plan to leave early

2. Law of Wrong Timing: No matter how hard you have worked the entire day, your boss will catch you only at the moment you decide to open Facebook

3. Law of Meetings: On the day you are happy your boss is going to be out all day for meeting - the meeting gets cancelled

4. Law of Bonus: The day you switch you job, your company starts giving out huge bonuses

5. Law of Workload: All work has to arrive simultaneously

6. Law of Gossip: All gossips travel faster than light (unless they are about yourself - in which case, refer Law of Gossip Illusion)

7. Law of Gossip Illusion: That there is no gossip making rounds about you is an illusion

8. Law of Breakage: Your shoe will break only after you have left the house

9. Law of Pass Expiry: You will realize your pass has expired only when you see a TC

10. Law of Time Pass: Just when you are free to have some fun, the entire world will turn extremely busy

11. Inverse Law of Time Pass: You seem to get most work just when the entire world is free for partying

12. Law of Silliness: You friends will laugh at the silliest of jokes except for your original ones

13. Law of Monsoon: It will definitely rain on the day you forget to carry your umbrella

14: Law of Bunking: If you are regular at attending college / office and decide to bunk one day, you are bound to be caught that day

15. Corollary to Law of Bunking: If you are regular at attending college / office and decide to bunk one day, some important call / meeting / assignment / test is bound to happen that day

16. Law of ATM: The ATM will never work when you need it most

17. Law of TV: While watching your favourite TV show, the telephone will ring at the time the most interesting revelation is about to be made

18. Law of Auto-save: Office will always crash when you haven't saved your work

19. Law of Photography: In every group picture, there is always at least one person with a weird pose or expression

20. Law of Cabs: You will never find one when you are in a hurry

21: Law of Traffic: You will find maximum traffic when you are running late

22. Law of Sale: When at a sale, you will never find the right size

Breathe Free

This is the first time I am putting up something serious on a public portal. But I feel there is a strong need to do so, for more reasons than one. Let me not be a bore by  talking about reasons and get down straight to the point - the reasons will become obvious on their own.

Well, to start with let me say that we claim of living in the 21st century and belonging to GenY who is fiercely independent and confident about themselves. We claim that we are learned, have earned multiple degrees and have successful white collar jobs. We claim to be bold, open minded and rational individuals who have learned through experiences more than just hearsay. We claim to believe in equality and do not hesitate in voicing out our opinions strongly against discrimination of any sort. We claim we look down upon the silly superstitions and rituals that do not follow logic or reasons of today's age. We claim to have gone beyond the age of rules to an age of rationalism. We claim these and a million more things that give us an image of being a fair, just and open minded individual of the 21st century.

Having said that, these are nothing but so called CLAIMS that we make about ourselves. How many of us actually practice it on a daily basis? How many of us can truly state for a fact that they truly do not carry out any sort of discrimination themselves? Despite having claimed to be a person of a particular kind, what happens when the time comes to adhere to them? Why can't most people stand up for what they claim about? If you are not going to follow it, why make false claims in the first place?

We say we live in an era of equality where men and women must be treated as equals. Yet, when it comes to  his own self, a guy expects to marry a homely girl who will stay home and do nothing beyond the domestic chores and putting up a smile for the husband when he comes home - tired and exhausted and completely ignorant of the challenges that his wife has faced through the day. A woman would want the prettiest girl in the world for her son ignoring the flaws in her own blood. The so called claims of equality fall to zero when it comes to the matter of marriage. The guy's family would still have their nasty demands - a lavish wedding, a houseful of dowry and an upper hand in the relationship for a lifetime.

Where does the so called rationalism disappear at such times? What happens to the fair and just and open minded individual of the 21st century then? The double standards of the society fail to make sense to me each time I encounter such incidences.

I am not here to change the world through a few goody goody words. But I do wish. I do wish to live in an unbiased world. I do wish to be in a place where there is no bondage in the way I can talk or dress or think or act. I do wish to be in a place where one is not looked down upon for merely being a girl, where her place in the house is not restricted to the kitchen alone, where she can dine with her family and share her feelings with an open heart, where she is respected for the person that she really is. I wish to live without fear. I wish of a place where I can BREATHE FREE.

Is it too much to  ask for?

Blogging!

well this is not like an essay on the hobby of blogging..its jus a few things i tend to notice about people who blog from the way they blog..

for starters, there are 3 types of bloggers (keeping aside the professionals who blog as a means to earn sum cash n not just as a hobby): 1. Show Offs 2. The Abstracts 3. The Confused

The Show Offs: These are typically students or professionals running the rat race trying to outpace every1 arnd them by trying to show how very interesting their life is and how much they actually do with it! No doubt these blogs are one of the best reads with nice superfluous language, very nicely framed incidents (cos they are obviously written by the front-runners of the race), amazingly insightful abt themselves (or whteva it is they write abt) and often hilarious or atleast sarcastically funny. No personal grudge, but I often tend to find these as a conscious effort to write constantly to keep up the lead in the race than anything more.

The Abstracts: These are people who write on just abt anything under the sun. Again a very interesting read since these people tend to bring out a completely different perspective on how we see things arnd us in an extremely interesting manner. These articles mite just make you ponder over them even a while after you have read them up. A reflection of their writings, the people who post such articles are also quite interesting to knw. They are a world apart from the race runners, not overly interested in the rules of the world and don't often adhere to any single theme or pattern. These are the ones often addressed by some tend as the crazy creatives...I cal them the spice of human species.

The Confused: My favorite types (cos i include myself in this category ;)). They are non frequent, non regulars and non systematic. They tend to write only on occasions when they find sumthing extremely worth writing for. Though these also tend to write on anything under the sun in any form they find apt and without any theme or regularity, they do not often present creative fronts in their writings as well as the abstracts. Yet, their work sometimes turns out to be a pretty decent collage of various colors of life presented from a single person's perspective. Highly biased and opinionated yet a good read if you can digest it. On closer examination, they mite actually present a nice reflection of the blogger's personality itself.

On Critics and Criticism...

How we all njoy jus pointin out flaws in every1 whom or everythin that we despise...its kinda pacifying to ourselves that the target isn't really as good as it seems...but think again....
Is it just cos sumwhr down the line you actually envy his or her position? Or you wish u were as lucky yourself? Or simply wanna make yourself feel better that you are no less....
Whatever the reason..a point here is that every single act or task that is carried out by any1 has a certain amount of effort gone into it..a certain amount of dedication...a certain amount of attachment by the doer...a certain amount of hope...It is like someone's imagination taking shape...
So criticisin sum1 is lik criticizing sumbody's imagination...n nobody has the right to do that...for the simple reason that imaginations donot follow rules...they r not supposed to..
So y criticise???

Dope, Dough And More!!!

Just today i came across an article written by a dear friend of mine on her blog..it spoke about legalizing drugs and making them freely available in d market with statutory warnings mentioned on them. A very unique thought i must say..although here's what i personally think about it...

what crap! not the article..i must say its very very well written..but d opinion! sucks!!! let me tel u 1 thing... u should b contributing towards making d world a better place n ELIMINATE d evils..rather than make them available freely! u think about dis...if we go ahead n ban drugs or somehow figure out a way 2 eradicate it..then d next generation wont know how it feels 2 have them. So they won't be dying to have them.
It works something like this..you don't know something exists..or you don't have anyone to tell you how it feels to have something..then you won't really be curious to have it yourself. Simple! Its in a way how vegetarians are never curious on having meat. They are not curious about knowing how it tastes..so they don't fall for the temptation.
In any case, once you realize something is not good for you (and i believe you do agree on that), you should be in a lookout to search for a means to avoid it and not for ways to allow them to others so they can know for themselves..albeit too late.
